Our new DAS Training School fleet of CB600 ABS Hornets has arrived

Get obn - Life's better on two wheels!

We can provide the CBT training and we have the Written Theory test on our school computers for students to practice. The amount of training required to pass the Practical test varies from person to person, so we offer a range of courses - from a 1 day refresher, through to a 4 day intensive training course.  For this reason we can offer a free assessment, so we can tailor the course to suit your needs.

Our off road training area is large enough to practice the module 1 manoeuvres.  You might like to have a go at the end of your CBT.

A brief explanation of licensing requirements:

• To obtain a licence, forms are available at most Post Offices and www.dvla.gov.uk

• At 16 you can ride a moped up to 50cc after passing a CBT(compulsory basic training) course.
You must display L-plates and are not allowed to carry a pillion passenger.

• At 17 you can then ride a motorcycle up to 125cc.

• Riders holding a full car licence issued before 01/02/2001 are permitted to ride a 50cc moped on
the road without taking a CBT. With a CBT, they can ride up to 125cc. Full car licence holders
issued on or after 01/02/2001 must complete a CBT for both a 50cc moped and a 125cc motorcycle.

• A CBT certificate is valid for two years.

• The CBT will have to be retaken if both theory and practical tests are not passed within two years.

• Once you have successfully completed CBT, and have your certificate (DL 196), you can carry on
to take additional training to pass your test and qualify for a full motorcycle licence. You will also be required to take a theory test.

• Riders under the age of 21 are not permitted to ride a motorcycle with more than 33 bhp, and are required to take the Standard Test on a 125cc motorcycle. They must then wait 2 years before
riding an unrestricted bike.

• Anyone over the age of 21 may take the Standard Test (and be subject to the two year restriction)
or take a Direct Access test on a 500cc motorcycle, when they are permitted to ride any bike.

• The Motorcycle test consists of two modules, which must be successfully completed within two years of passing the theory test.  Module 1 must be passed before taking Module 2.  Module 1 consists of the specified manoeuvres carried out at test centre.  Module 2 is the practical road ride.  Both modules must be taken on the same category motorcycle.
